Brad Knight has met requirements to earn the Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation. Knight, who works with the Arant Knight Financial Group of Hilliard Lyons, holds a master’s degree in business administration from Murray State University.

Stacey A. Blankenship, partner with law firm Denton & Keuler, will serve on the Kentucky Bar Association’s legislative committee. The committee reviews legislation that may affect the legal profession and recommends whether the Kentucky Bar Association should endorse it.

Mary Foley, executive director of the Purchase Area Sexual Assault and Child Advocacy Center (PASAC), will leave the center to become director of operations for non-profit organization Green Dot, etc., effective March 1.
On the same date, the center’s board of directors will promote Lori W. Brown to executive director of the PASAC.
Foley will oversee administration and training for Green Dot, etc., which develops programs and training sessions to combat violence in communities.
Brown has worked for seven years at PASAC, the state designated rape crisis and child advocacy center for the eight county Purchase Area.
PASAC provides free and confidential services to victims of sexually-based crimes through various services.

Mark Welch, a longtime voice heard on Murray State University’s WKMS radio station, is now director of community relations in the university president’s office.
Welch will serve as director of Town & Gown, a program that heads collaborative projects between the university, Murray and Calloway County. Welch will also be the liaison between the MSU president’s office and the university’s 18-county region in west Kentucky.
A native of Fulton, Welch earned a bachelor’s degree in radio, TV and journalism in 1978 from MSU, and obtained a master’s degree mass communications 1986 at Murray State.
Up until last month, he was the WKMS program director since 1999.

The American Cancer Society recognized local staff member Pam Whittemore as one of its top performing members of the society’s Mid-South Division. The division is comprised of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Whittemore received the Associate Commendation of Excellence honor along with 25 other top employees. The honor is based on staff meeting or exceeding performance goals, team player attributes and going above and beyond the call of duty.

Gov. Steve Beshear appointed Natalie Jane Tate of Paducah to the Board of Nursing for a term expiring June 30, 2014. Tate, a licensed practical nurse at Lourdes Hospice, will represent the Kentucky Association of Licensed Practical Nurses.

Dana Dickey recently joined the design team at Ethan Allen, 451 Jordan Drive.
Dickey offered design consulting in the region and in Boston before joining Ethan Allen full time.

Two employees at the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Center earned awards at the 16th National Symposium on Juvenile Services in San Antonio, Texas.

Leslie Holloway, youth worker at the center, won the Bob Rader Line Staff Worker of the Year. Crystal Poloski, youth services supervisor, earned the Bob Rader Detention Services Worker of the Year.

The National Juvenile Detention Association presents the awards each year to recognize outstanding staff members in the juvenile detention field.

Mike Colson of Paducah recently graduated from the Kentucky Auction Academy. The academy provided 80 hours of classroom instruction and training for Colson to pursue a new auctioneer’s license in several states, including Kentucky.

Lourdes hospital welcomes Dr. Omid Javadi, a cardiothoracic surgeon, to its staff. Javadi is certified with the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He joins Regional Heart and Lung Surgery with Dr. James O’Rourke.

Paul D. Bell and James C. Koinis are new partners with Johanna Fox CPA Inc.
Bell joined the Mayfield firm in 2005 as a staff accountant. In 2009, Bell earned his CPA designation and was promoted to vice president last year.
Koinis joined Johanna Fox CPA in 2005 as a staff accountant. Koinis became marketing director in 2010. Bell and Koinis earned accounting degrees at Murray State University.

Tab Brockman begins his job as director of the Murray-Calloway Parks Department on Tuesday.
Brockman will pull from his 20 years in Murray spent establishing far-reaching connections and organizations involved with events planning, advertising and sales and fundraising.
The former Murray-Calloway Chamber of Commerce director is also a past associate athletic director at Murray State University, and a former assistant general manager with the Louisville Redbirds professional baseball team. Brockman also founded Teamwork Marketing & Promotions, LLC, producing many events throughout the region through 2009.
“For the last 14 years, I’ve been able to interact with our parks as a parent and coach in baseball and soccer, as a volunteer on sports planning boards and as a vendor,” Brockman said in a statement.
“I’m looking forward to new opportunities and bringing all of those experiences and perspectives together in my new role as park director,” Brockman said.

UBS Financial Services Inc. promoted Jamey R. Brown to branch manager of its Paducah office at 5120 Village Square Drive.
Brown has been an assistant branch manager the past three years after joining UBS in 2001.
He will continue to provide wealth management solutions for clients while managing the Paducah branch’s day-to-day activities.
Also, two local UBS advisers landed industry honors for sales production and leadership.
James R. Brown, a 27-year UBS adviser, was made a member of the 2010 Pacesetter Club, an honor given to the top 20 percent of advisers. Paula P. Bright was named a member of the Pacesetter Recognition Council for her sales production and leadership in 2010. Bright has been with UBS for 27 years.

Western Baptist Hospital lactation consultant Debbie Cornwell, R.N., was honored by the hospital’s Maternal-Child Department for her work in creating a 24-hour lactation suite for employees and visitors. The International Breastfeeding Certified Lactation Consultant Directory recently added Western Baptist.

Megan Stanley is the new family resource director at Fancy Farm and Lowes elementary schools. The Graves County High School graduate earned a business administration degree from Murray State University in 2007.
Since finishing at MSU, Stanley has worked as a teaching assistant in Mayfield Independent Schools.

Kevin Brown was promoted to chief credit officer. After joining the cooperative in 1991, Brown served as branch manager at the Kevil office and more recently as the senior credit administrator at the administrative office.
Kyle Yancey increased his territory and is now the branch manager for the Kevil and Lone Oak offices. The Ballard County native joined ACA in 2006.
Chuck Murphy, branch manager of the Hickman office, will also manage the Clinton office. Murphy will also service large borrowers in Fulton and Hickman counties.
Lori Thompson, loan originator, is back in the Lone Oak office and will originate loans for Ballard and McCracken counties.

West earned his doctorate of physical therapy and bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky. With 20 years of experience, West’s background is in orthopedic rehabilitation with a focus on sports medicine conditions.

Blythe is a Certified Public Accountant in the tax department of Lattimore Black Morgan and Cain in Brentwood, Tenn. Blythe is the son of Lars and Molly Blythe of Paducah.

Carter of Kevil, reappointed to the State Labor Relations Board through April 24, 2015; Jacqueline Hansen of Murray, an associate professor of education at Murray State University, appointed to the Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Grant Steering Committee through May 16, 2012; James W. Gibson of Benton, a self-employed plumber representing the Association of General Contractors of America, appointed to the State Plumbing Code Committee through Jan. 31, 2013; and Felix O. Akojie of Paducah, a professor at West Kentucky Community & Technical College representing local boards of education, reappointed to the Kentucky Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education through Dec. 15, 2013.
