Workers completed the roof of the new office building at 1800 N. Eighth St. on Sept. 6 and planned to finish the building’s electrical wiring by the end of October.
“It’s coming along pretty fast,” Anderson said.
In June, Anderson announced employees will leave the company’s downtown office at 401 Washington St. Those 10 employees, including Anderson, will move to a new $750,000 office near the company’s water quality and distribution center.
The 5,900-square-foot building will feature more parking than the Washington Street location, Anderson said.

People Plus, Inc. acquired the Calvert City office of Michigan-based Dari Integrity Resources, Inc., according to a People Plus release.
People Plus assumes the ongoing contracts and will hire the existing staff and employees.
“The Calvert City office is a good fit for our continued growth,” said Amy Sanderson, People Plus president, in a release.
People Plus has eight offices in Kentucky and celebrates its 25th anniversary in May 2013. The company places workers with employers in temporary positions that have the potential to turn into full-time positions.
“We intend to keep the office open in its current location and continue to recruit the best people to fill our increased demand for qualified employees for the area’s business, industry and government units,” Sanderson said in the release.

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced a new tool, SizeUp, available to business owners and start-ups that helps them identify new customers and compare their performance against other businesses in their industry.

A newly constructed McDonald’s advertised open doors last week at 3995 Hinkleville Road, where a previous McDonald’s location had operated.
Workers with Buffalo Construction of Louisville began in June tearing down the previous restaurant to make way for the new building with a brick facade and revamped design and features.
The new restaurant offers a double drive-through and 24-hour drive-through service.
“We have longevity as an employer in Paducah, employing over 250 people in McCracken County, and reopening this location let us provide even more jobs to the community,” said Mike Love, owner-operator, in a release.

Paducah Federal Credit Union became Signet Federal Credit Union on Oct. 1. Alan Butler, president, also announced that the credit union plans to open a Mayfield office by the end of the year.
Originally chartered in 1939 as Paducah ICRR Credit Union, the financial institution has grown to become one of the region’s largest credit unions alongside C-Plant.
“In recent years our membership has steadily expanded into areas outside of Paducah,” Butler said in a release.
“We feel the timing is right for a new name, one that isn’t tied to a single locale. We chose Signet because we feel it represents the loyalty and the seal of trust our members have in our credit union.”
As of December, Paducah Federal Credit Union claimed $193 million in assets with 17,100 members, up from $172 million in assets and 16,600 members in summer 2010.

The Ryan’s buffet restaurant at 801 Walmart Drive next to Ky. 121 North in Murray closed, according to a Murray Ledger & Times report. A Ryan’s representative told the newspaper that the lease on the restaurant had expired and the company chose not to renew it.

Brian Bailey and Pat Lamb joined to form Bailey-Lamb Monument Company, Inc., a new monument business open in Vienna, Ill.
The business, located at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, offers granite memorials, mausoleums and cemetery inscriptions.
Lamb worked in the monument business with his father-in-law, Joe Reynolds, from 1972 until the business sold in 1999. Bailey has owned and operated the funeral home for 15 years.

Unemployment rates fell in 98 Kentucky counties between August 2011 and August this year, while 20 county rates increased and two stayed the same, according to the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
Fulton County recorded the state’s highest unemployment rate at 16.7 percent. Unemployment rates for Purchase counties in August: McCracken, 8 percent; Ballard, 8.8 percent; Calloway, 7.1 percent; Carlisle, 7.7 percent; Graves, 8.4 percent; Hickman, 8.8 percent; Marshall, 8.3 percent.

Computer Services, Inc. of Paducah reported results for the second quarter and six months ended Aug. 31.
Second quarter revenues rose 11.8 percent to $48.6 million in fiscal 2013 compared with $43.5 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2012, according to a company release.
Second quarter net income declined 5.4 percent to $6.1 million compared with $6.4 million in the prior-year period. Consolidated revenues for the first six months of fiscal 2013 rose 15.1 percent to a record $96.6 million compared with $83.9 million for the same period in fiscal 2012. CSI’s growth in revenues benefited from a 3 percent increase in processing revenues and a 45.3 percent increase in other revenues compared with the first half of the prior fiscal year.
Operating income declined 2.6 percent to $19.3 million for the first six months of fiscal 2013 compared with $19.9 million for the same period last year.
“Our growth in revenue benefited from the continued demand for our processing services and the contribution from HEIT Consulting, Inc. that we acquired in September 2011,” said Steven Powless, chief executive officer, in a release. “This quarter marked our 33rd consecutive quarter of revenue growth.
“We expect revenues and operating income to ramp up in the second half of this fiscal year due to new processing customers coming online and to continued growth from our other business units,” Powless said.
